Rafał Lalik is an experimental nuclear physicist and assistant professor with 12 years of experience bridging low- and medium-energy nuclear research, detector R&D, and software development. His work spans academic leadership at Jagiellonian University, postdoctoral detector and simulation coordination at Technical University Munich, and hands-on electronics R&D at GSI, combining physics analysis with robust programming and data-analysis skills. He contributes to open-source projects such as Kdenlive—improving its titler and UI interactions—demonstrating fluency in full-stack development beyond his academic remit. Comfortable with system-level detector electronics and simulation frameworks, he also brings practical aerospace radiation-dosimetry experience and a PhD-level grounding in nuclear physics. Outside the lab he’s an avid scout, skydiver and backpacker, reflecting a taste for teamwork and calculated risk-taking.

Contributions summary:Rafał primarily worked on the Kdenlive video editor's titler functionality. Their contributions involved adding pattern support, implementing a built-in typewriter effect, and fixing issues related to background color settings. The user's changes included modifications to the `titledocument.cpp`, `titlewidget.cpp`, `graphicsscenerectmove.cpp` and `titledocument.h` files. These changes suggest improvements to the titler's features, UI interactions and the underlying document handling.
