Top SchoolRainer Kottenhoff is a seasoned software engineer with over 25 years of experience specializing in medical image processing, real-time image analysis and industrial inspection systems. He combines deep C/C++/C#/Python skills with expertise in parallel and concurrent programming to build robust CT/MRI and vision-based solutions, including ECG-triggered computed tomography for cardiology. His background spans academia and industry—from research at RWTH Aachen University to senior development at Siemens Healthcare and optimization software at INFORM—bridging algorithm research and production-grade engineering. Rainer also contributes to open-source tooling, working full-stack on projects like Notepad3 where he improved UI, text handling and lexing integrations. He brings a pragmatic data-driven approach to machine vision, data mining and personnel planning problems, often turning complex signal- and image-processing requirements into efficient real-time systems. Based in Aachen, he pairs strong domain knowledge in medical imaging with hands-on systems and tooling experience that few practitioners maintain across both research and product environments.
