Top SchoolReid Main is a Staff Software Engineer with 14+ years focused on iOS engineering, currently improving mobile performance and reliability at Square from his base in Waterloo, Ontario. He has deep expertise in Swift, Objective-C, UIKit and SwiftUI and a track record of integrating gRPC and custom Protobuf tooling to modernize networking across large consumer apps at Instacart and Uber. Reid has repeatedly led platform and architecture efforts—helping scale Uber’s iOS team, steering migrations between Swift versions, and shipping secure crypto-backed features using Apple’s Secure Enclave at Anchorage. He combines pragmatic engineering with developer-experience improvements, from CI and testing advocacy to custom code generators, and often surfaces systemic fixes that reduce boilerplate and runtime errors. Notably, he’s comfortable both shipping product-facing apps and building the internal tools and libraries that let large mobile teams move faster.
