RockstarRemy DeCausemaker is an Open Source Lead with over 15 years uniting community strategy, policy, and civic technology to advance public-interest software. Currently leading open source efforts at CMS Digital Service, he blends grassroots community-building with government-scale program delivery to modernize healthcare systems and policy. A self-described "Hackademic," Remy has driven notable firsts in the FOSS movement—helping establish the first US academic minor in FOSS and Free Culture, and serving as the first open source community manager for a US presidential campaign—demonstrating a knack for translating volunteer energy into institutional change. He coaches executives and staff, designs community architecture, and scouts talent, consistently wearing "the suit so hackers don't have to" to defend users while enabling technical contributors to focus on code.
