Senior🎓
Top SchoolRicardo Barrera is a Senior Software Engineer with 12 years of professional experience building web and enterprise systems across the US and Mexico, currently at UCSF in the San Francisco Bay Area. He blends backend expertise—from ETL and reporting automation in banking to Ruby on Rails e-commerce and CMS work—with a practical, delivery-oriented mindset honed since starting his career at 18. Ricardo has repeatedly reduced development and operational friction (for example, creating ETL templates that cut development time by ~85% and desktop schedulers to validate data pipelines). He enjoys mentoring and knowledge sharing, and approaches problems with curiosity that extends beyond tech into photography, video editing, skateboarding and guitar. Comfortable across databases, integrations and full-stack web development, he brings both hands-on coding ability and a knack for process improvements to long-lived systems.
