Top SchoolRicardo Ogando is a Senior Technology Specialist based in São Paulo with a PhD in Physics and over a decade of experience turning astronomical research into large-scale data science practice. He spent 16 years at the Observatório Nacional and now works at CTI Renato Archer, contributing to major sky surveys such as SDSS III/IV and the Dark Energy Survey where he co-leads the Galaxy and Quasar Evolution working group. An expert in galaxy formation and evolution, he has co-authored hundreds of papers and designed a scientific computing course for graduate students, bridging research and reproducible software. Equally at home explaining science to the public, he reaches millions through videos, livestreams, and planetarium narration, and he regularly organizes and mentors data-science hackathons. Notably, his profile blends deep domain expertise with practical data-science education and outreach, making him a rare hybrid of researcher, technologist, and communicator.
