Richard Fbcs is an architect and founder with 40+ years applying computing to robotics, education and enterprise software, currently leading the Elan programming language project and directing Naked Objects Group. He conceived the Naked Objects architectural pattern, built an open-source framework deployed at national scale in Ireland, and continues product leadership while teaching computer science. A PhD in Computer Science and fast-track academic record underpin a career that spans venture-backed robotics, tech journalism, corporate research leadership at CSC, and patent-backed inventions in robotic window cleaning. Notably he was an early personal-computer pioneer in Europe (first to run a program in a Microsoft language) and was mentored by Alan Kay, who wrote the foreword to his OOP textbook.
