Rob Wortham is an interdisciplinary technology leader combining 37 years of hands-on engineering with academic rigour as a PhD-qualified researcher in robot autonomy, transparency and ethics. Currently Executive Director of the International AI Governance Association and Director of AI at the Global Digital Foundation, he helps shape international AI standards and policy while maintaining active roles in BSI, CEN/CENELEC and IEEE working groups. A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the BCS and HEA, he bridges chip- and hardware-level design through to software, systems architecture and autonomous system safety, and he has led MSc teaching and research at the University of Bath. Known for mentoring and translating complex technical issues for board-level decision making, he also founded a robotics company and contributes scholarly peer review on human-robot interaction—bringing an uncommon mix of practical engineering, standards influence and ethical scholarship to AI governance.
