Top SchoolRobert Brewer is a Principal Engineer and analytics-focused architect with 21 years building production web, Big Data, and database systems. He has held senior architecture roles at Crunch.io and YouGov and currently leads analytics engineering at Crunch, where he designed an in-house statistical database and a novel algebra for joint distributions over inverted indexes. Pragmatic and research-minded, he has implemented multiple database engines, web servers, media types, DSLs, and protocols from the ground up and excels at observability and performance optimization. Colleagues value him for clear explanations of complex systems and for thriving on teams of smart, collaborative engineers. His background—starting from long-term operational leadership to chief architect roles—gives him a rare blend of hands-on system-building and product-focused architecture. He is unusually comfortable moving between low-level systems design and higher-level statistical/data modeling needs.
