Top SchoolRobert Merget is a Lead Researcher at the Technology Innovation Institute in Abu Dhabi, bringing over a decade of deep expertise in cryptographic protocol research with a specialty in (D)TLS. He earned a Dr. Ing. in IT-Security (summa cum laude) from Ruhr-Universität Bochum and spent five years there as a scientific researcher before moving to TII. Robert combines rigorous academic training with practical protocol development, frequently bridging formal security analysis and implementable TLS improvements. Colleagues know him for a pragmatic “half-AI, half-human” approach to tooling and automation that accelerates research-to-code cycles. He focuses on producing auditable, deployable cryptography rather than theoretical only results, helping secure real-world systems at scale.
