Top SchoolRobert Wilton is a Principal Software Engineer with 11 years of documented experience and over two decades of deep expertise in carrier-grade network software, currently shaping network management architecture at Cisco using IETF and OpenConfig protocols. He has advanced IOS XR development, YANG modeling, and Ethernet services across long-term roles at Cisco and its Ensoft predecessor, blending hands-on implementation with standards-driven design. As a former IETF Operations and Management Area Director he brings rare operational insight into protocol governance, AAA, and data modeling that informs pragmatic, interoperable solutions. Oxford-trained in computer science, he pairs rigorous academic foundations with a track record of translating complex network standards into production-ready software. Colleagues rely on him for architectural leadership on management-plane challenges that must balance vendor-neutral standards with carrier requirements.
