Senior🎓
Top SchoolRodney Sparapani is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics with 24 years of experience applying Bayesian machine learning and nonparametric methods to real-world biomedical problems, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and precision medicine. He leads research at the Medical College of Wisconsin focused on scaling Bayesian approaches to big data and omics, with particular expertise in causal inference and survival analysis. His background blends deep statistical theory (PhD in Biostatistics) with hands-on computational work, evident in contributions to the Emacs Speaks Statistics (ESS) project improving SAS integration and remote file handling. Colleagues value him for translating complex methodology into collaborative analyses, grant-winning proposals, and reproducible workflows. Based in Brookfield, WI, he pairs academic rigor with practical software skills that smooth the interface between statistical research and clinical application.

Emacs Speaks Statistics: ESS
Role in this project:
Back-end Developer
Back-end DeveloperContributions:1039 commits, 1 PR, 88 pushes in 21 years 2 months
Contributions summary:Rodney appears to be a back-end developer primarily working on the ESS (Emacs Speaks Statistics) project, specifically focusing on the SAS (Statistical Analysis System) components. Their contributions revolve around modifying and enhancing the SAS integration within ESS, including refactoring the handling of the temporary file. They changed the way SAS interprets the commands and is called by ESS. Their modifications appear to be concerned with the file management and user experience, especially related to remote environments using the kermit file transfer system.
