Senior🎓
Top SchoolRoger Hutchings is a lead software engineer with 11 years of experience who moved from journalism into web development and now thrives in startup environments. Primarily a front-end specialist, he excels with React, Styled Components, Vite and XState-driven state machines, while also contributing to full-stack architecture, CI/CD and serverless deployments. He’s delivered complex migrations (Angular to React), built no-code content platforms and orchestrated release pipelines at scale, and has led product architecture for data-intensive ML workflows. Comfortable mentoring and running agile teams, Roger blends curiosity from an investigative journalism background with pragmatic engineering—he even discovered a previously-uncatalogued supernova during his time in academia. Based in England, he pairs research-grade collaboration experience from the University of Oxford with hands-on startup execution at firms like Quit Genius and Kraken.
