Romet Aidla is an AI research and software engineer with over a decade of production engineering experience and 3+ years focused on AI, computer vision, and mobile robotics. He has built and deployed ground and aerial autonomous vehicles—from making a full-sized car handle rally tracks autonomously to testing models on a ClearPath Jackal robot—and blends practical robotics engineering with deep learning research. His recent projects include GNSS-free navigation using satellite maps and visual odometry, and applying generative World Models and 3D vision to real-world autonomy. Romet has hands-on expertise training and fine-tuning state-of-the-art models (DINOv2, diffusion, CVAEs) in multi-GPU setups and open-sourcing datasets and code. A former full-stack engineer and co-founder, he pairs system-level product thinking with research rigor and deployment experience. Outside work he designs and flies FPV drones, reflecting a continual hardware-software loop that informs his research.
