Top SchoolRonald Van Der Woude is an ecologist-turned-developer with a decade of hands-on experience in animal movement ecology and theoretical ecology, currently applying his MSc training to bird data at NIOO-KNAW for the SPI-Birds initiative. He combines field research—theses on black-tailed godwits and brown rat ecology—and practical landscape advising to translate ecological questions into robust data products and workflows. As datamanager for the Vogeltrekstation he bridges data curation, analysis, and long-term biodiversity monitoring, bringing rigor to messy ecological datasets. Colleagues describe him as curious and methodical: he pairs biological insight with software-minded problem solving to improve reproducibility and species-level inference. Based in the Randstad, he balances applied consultancy experience with research-driven perspectives that prioritize both conservation impact and scalable data practices.
