Summary
Rosa Vicente is a Chancellor Fellow at EPCC with a decade of experience at the intersection of HPC, data-intensive science, and scalable system architecture. She has led research and applied teams across academia and industry—from universities and national surveys to JP Morgan—specializing in performance modeling, parallel I/O, network communication optimization and adaptive workflow systems for HPC and cloud. Her work spans MPI/OpenMP parallel engines, parallel file systems (HDFS, GFS, PVFS), Apache Spark and containerised deployments, and she actively translates research prototypes into automated data-transfer and job-submission solutions. Known for crossing disciplinary boundaries, Rosa couples rigorous performance evaluation with practical engineering to push large-scale scientific and streaming workloads further. An academic by training with a PhD from University Carlos III of Madrid, she also brings uncommon industry experience in applied research settings, bridging theory and production-grade systems.
