Top SchoolRosario Uceda-Sosa is a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM T.J. Watson Research Lab with over 13 years of experience building ontologies, knowledge graphs, and semantic systems that have been deployed by banks, governments, and aerospace firms. A PhD in Computer Science and dual master’s in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Michigan, she combines deep formal reasoning skills with practical software engineering and usability expertise. Her work spans smart cities, finance, healthcare, conversational AI and computer vision, and she has authored 25 US patents and published at top venues like AAAI and IJCAI. Currently she focuses on integrating large language models with large-scale ontological and linguistic resources—federating Wikidata, WordNet and PropBank into domain-specific KGs to enable reasoning over natural language. Beyond research, she has led IBM-wide strategy efforts such as the 2009 Global Technology Outlook and served in conference leadership roles, reflecting a rare mix of technical inventorship and organizational influence. An often-overlooked strength is her track record of translating formal semantic models into production-ready systems used in high-stakes industrial settings.
