Rui Gato is a multidisciplinary artist and lab director based in Lisbon who blends architecture-informed thinking with two decades of practice in music, sound design, interactive systems and motion visuals. Since 1998 he has focused on real-time composition and human/machine interfaces, developing experimental mixed-media installations and generative visual-music work using tools like TouchDesigner. He co-founded production companies (Horse On Wheels, HOW) and contributed to cultural projects and ensembles while leading lab initiatives at OCUBO to scale research-driven creative tech. Notably, his recent research into Sacred Geometry and "Geometrical Music" applies visual coding to translate geometric principles into sonic structures, revealing an unusual cross-disciplinary rigor.
