Top SchoolRui Hirokawa is a Principal Expert at Mitsubishi Electric with 15+ years leading guidance, navigation and control engineering for space and defense programs, currently driving high-accuracy GNSS services like Japan’s QZSS CLAS. He combines deep academic credentials (PhD, University of Tokyo) with hands-on system design—from tightly coupled GNSS/INS for UAVs and ground vehicles to reentry guidance for space missions—and now shapes international standards on RTCM SC-104, 3GPP and ICG. Known for translating advanced research (PPP-RTK, Precise Orbit Determination, robust control and signal processing) into operational satellite navigation services, he chairs QZSS working groups and manages complex multi-disciplinary projects. An open-source-minded engineer, he also contributes to OSS tools such as PHP and Scilab, reflecting a practical preference for reproducible tooling alongside mission-critical systems.
