Top SchoolRuslan Pilin is a Lead Software Engineer based in New York with over a decade of hands-on experience building high-performance, distributed systems and greenfield products. He has a strong track record in backend architecture, big data, and cloud automation—having designed trading and advertising platforms, led Hadoop clusters, and introduced DevOps practices with Ansible, Terraform and Azure. Ruslan frequently applies test-first/TDD disciplines and has implemented integration and migration frameworks (MongoDB migrations, Coherence upgrades, OSGi license plugins) that boosted stability and deployability. He moves between languages and paradigms comfortably—Scala, Java, Akka, Vert.x, and JVM tooling feature across his work—and has led teams from startup to enterprise scale. Notably, he has repeatedly built systems from scratch (cloud trading platform, search/categorization pipelines, and developer tooling) and driven cultural change by embedding CI/CD and automated testing. Pragmatic and technically curious, he combines deep systems knowledge with a founder’s mindset for delivery and operational ownership.
