Senior🎓
Top SchoolRussell Van Bert is a Lead Software Engineer based in Melbourne with over 25 years of hands-on experience delivering desktop, mobile and cloud software across Macintosh, Windows, iOS and AWS/Azure platforms. He spent more than two decades at MYOB, rising from developer to application architect and leading cross-platform products that scaled to millions of users and payrolls, including award-winning mobile payment and payroll engines. Russell combines systems-level C/C++ and low-level performance work with modern stacks like Node, React and Redux to refactor core engines and expose services via APIs. He co-founded a startup and currently leads engineering at Mantel Group, blending product delivery with architecture and team leadership. Known for pragmatic refactoring and automation—he built automated build pipelines and extracted in-memory functional payroll engines that markedly improved performance. Always curious, he continues to adopt new technologies while focusing on practical, customer-facing outcomes.
