Senior🎓
Top SchoolRyan Chui is a Member of Technical Staff at a stealth AI startup and a seasoned platform engineer with 10 years of experience building high-performance ML and data infrastructure. He combines academic training in bioinformatics and biochemistry with deep expertise in cloud architecture, distributed computing, and HPC, having driven multimodal performance improvements (from 10x to 2250x) across prior roles. At Recurrency and 23andMe he led zero-downtime migrations, scaled systems to handle 300k+ jobs/day and 1000x data growth, and cut operational costs through model and search optimizations. He’s equally fluent in developer productivity—shipping a branch-and-sandbox platform that reduced ship time from hours to minutes—and observability, establishing end-to-end traces and cost-efficient monitoring. Based in San Francisco, he blends scientific domain knowledge with production-grade engineering to accelerate ML experimentation and data freshness. A not-obvious strength: he repeatedly converts academic HPC techniques into cloud-native, cost-savvy solutions that scale for real customers.
