Top SchoolRyu Yamada is a software engineer with 8 years of backend-focused experience, currently driving payment platform development at Mercari in Chiyoda, Japan. He has led cross-functional initiatives—acting as engineering lead and project manager—for large-scale payment integrations, including end-to-end installment payments for Mercari Shops and a year-long global payment domain effort with ~30 contributors. His work automating merchant onboarding and periodic screening demonstrates a knack for translating regulatory requirements into scalable, automated systems. Recognized with Mercari’s Merpay Move Fast Value Award, he blends technical depth with product-minded leadership. Trained in physics at Kyoto University, he brings analytical rigor and low-level systems experience (UEFI, device drivers) uncommon for product-focused backend engineers.
