Senior🎓
Top SchoolSaiful Khan is a Senior Scientist based in Oxford with 10 years of experience building scalable software, machine learning, and data-visualisation systems for national-scale science and industry. He has led cross-disciplinary projects—from real-time streaming and visualization for the Square Kilometre Array and pandemic decision-support dashboards to LLM-based search and digital-twin development for urban and fusion research—combining research-grade methods with production engineering. As Co-PI on EPSRC and UKRI-funded programmes and a DAFNI user liaison, he bridges academia, national labs and infrastructure providers to make complex environmental and imaging data FAIR and discoverable. He also supervises mixed teams of RSEs, data scientists and PhD students, translating domain workflows into robust, deployable pipelines. A PhD in Engineering Science underpins his work, and less obvious is his track record of turning research prototypes (e.g., VBAS) into operational systems used by national facilities.
