Top SchoolSam Der is an Associate Software Engineer with nine years of hands-on experience building and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure and embedded systems, currently supporting Capital One’s mobile banking platform from the San Francisco Bay Area. He combines strong backend skills—AWS, Python Lambdas, SQS, CloudWatch, and EC2/AMI management—with practical DevOps work like CI/CD, Jenkins pipeline recovery, and Prometheus/Grafana observability. Sam’s background spans research and robotics (co-authoring a VehicleSec 2024 paper and deploying ROS simulations on major clouds) as well as low-level embedded projects using STM32 and real-time control for a Hyperloop pod. He’s comfortable across the stack—Rust and Go for performance tooling, React for front-end interfaces—and has saved significant operational costs through pragmatic automation. Colleagues describe him as a versatile engineer who bridges research-grade systems and production reliability, with a knack for making complex systems observable and maintainable.
