Based in San Francisco, he has driven measurable business impact as an Engineering Manager at Monte Carlo—leading initiatives like usage-based pricing that boosted ARR by 15% and dashboards that improved time-to-resolution for data incidents. His background spans payments and fintech at Pockyt and Cardless, high-scale systems and ML/forecasting platforms at Uber, and deep release/DevOps expertise from roles at Lookout, Samsung, and BlackBerry. Sam blends hands-on engineering with product-minded leadership, routinely shipping end-to-end solutions from architecture through production automation. An early career focus on compiler and JVM work at IBM hints at a strong systems fundamentals foundation that informs his pragmatic approach to reliability and observability.
