Top SchoolSameer Deshpande is an Assistant Professor of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a decade of experience at the intersection of Bayesian methodology and applied inference. He develops and applies Bayesian additive regression trees, hierarchical modeling, and variable selection techniques for causal inference problems in sports and public health. Before joining Wisconsin he was a postdoctoral associate at MIT working with Tamara Broderick, and he earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from Wharton under Ed George and Veronika Rockova. His work blends rigorous theory with practical applications, often translating complex Bayesian models into tools for real-world decision-making. Outside academia he channels analytical creativity into cooking, cocktail crafting, and rooting for Dallas sports teams.
