Summary
👤
SeniorSamuel Chen is a software engineer intern and senior at UIUC studying mathematics and computer science, with nine years of hands-on experience building backend services, developer tooling, and robotics software. He has implemented production-ready microservices in Java using gRPC, containerized deployments on GKE, and reproducible CI/CD pipelines with Bazel and Docker for live trading systems. Samuel pairs this backend strength with front-end and full-stack experience—React, MongoDB, and Redis—from projects including a Google mentorship-built recipe finder. He has practical embedded and test-systems experience from developing device testers and GUIs in .NET/Visual Basic for aerospace and medical clients. A mentor and educator across university and high-school robotics teams, he’s skilled at onboarding teams to Git, Java, and modern tooling and has led scouting and strategy efforts that helped his team reach world championship playoffs. Fluent in Mandarin and intrigued by quantum AI, he blends rigorous engineering with a curiosity for cutting-edge AI and robotics.
