Samuel Kogler is a founding engineer with 15 years of hands-on experience building scalable geospatial and AI systems, currently based in Graz, Austria. He specializes in Python-driven geospatial data processing (GDAL, rasterio, PyTorch) and has a strong background in C++11–17, with production experience spanning native code, backend services, and web applications. At blackshark.ai he helped design petabyte-scale storage, versioning, and query services for satellite raster data and led efforts to make large models and tile servers work efficiently on Kubernetes. More recently he built backend systems for mobile apps and now helps shape a startup’s technical foundation as a founding engineer. Known for digging into tricky bugs across the stack, he pairs pragmatic engineering with academic grounding from TU Graz. A less obvious strength is his blend of low-level C++ systems thinking with high-level ML pipelines, enabling robust end-to-end solutions for geospatial ML.
