Sander Schaminée is a seasoned full-stack software engineer and product owner with 11 years’ experience building geospatial tooling and integrations. Based in Wageningen, he leads development of GeoCat Bridge—plugins for ArcGIS and QGIS that publish data, metadata, and styles to GeoServer, GeoNetwork and MapServer—combining Python, C#/.NET and JavaScript expertise. A core contributor to pygeoapi and experienced with GeoNetwork, GeoServer, QGIS, FME and Esri ArcGIS, he bridges open-source server ecosystems and desktop GIS workflows. He pairs hands-on engineering with product stewardship, shipping cross-platform plugins that smooth complex spatial data pipelines. Less obvious: he routinely navigates both geospatial standards and practical desktop-to-web translation challenges, making interoperability a repeatable deliverable.
pygeoapi is a Python server implementation of the OGC API suite of standards. The project emerged as part of the next generation OGC API efforts in 2018 and provides the capability for organizations to deploy a RESTful OGC API endpoint using OpenAPI, GeoJSON, and HTML. pygeoapi is open source and released under an MIT license.
