Sanjay Bhatnagar is a Research and Development Scientist at NRAO with over two decades of experience building high-performance scientific software and leading algorithms R&D for indirect imaging systems. He pioneered projection algorithms and adaptive multi-scale image modeling to enable high dynamic range imaging for radio interferometers, with techniques transferable to MRI and other imaging modalities. Equally fluent in C/C++, Python, Fortran and CUDA, he has taken projects from scientific requirement through prototyping, validation and deployment on cluster and GPU platforms. His work includes practical tools—parsers, virtual machines and parallel imagers—and long-running collaborations with NVIDIA, SKA/IDIA and GMRT. Based in Socorro, he combines deep numerical linear algebra and inverse-problem expertise with hands-on systems engineering, making him as comfortable tuning algorithms as optimizing their production-scale implementations.
