Top SchoolSantiago Zubieta‑Ortiz is a Senior Software Engineer based in Berlin with 14 years of professional experience and nine years in senior roles, specializing in building reliable, event-driven backend systems for high-volume consumer platforms. He has driven end-to-end design and production of distributed services across loyalty, payments, notifications, and ML-driven marketing at companies like HelloFresh, UP42, and Booking.com, improving scalability and customer experience by replacing flaky, batch-oriented pipelines with real‑time flows. Santiago pairs hands-on coding with operational rigor—creating runbooks, automations, onboarding materials, and cross‑functional task forces to mitigate fraud and improve incident response. Early work at Google and contributions to observability and testing reduced flakiness and sped up test suites, reflecting a longstanding focus on robustness and developer productivity. Comfortable with diverse stacks (Go, Java, GRPC, event streams) and fluent in security and compliance considerations, he brings both technical depth and a pragmatic, documentation-first approach to team processes.
