Sarbojit Das is a software engineer with eight years of experience combining rigorous academic research and practical tool-building, now working at COMSOL in Uppsala. He completed a PhD at Uppsala University where he developed high-performance automated testing and verification algorithms for concurrent, event-driven, and distributed systems and implemented them in the widely used Nidhugg model checker. His research produced testing algorithms that are around 33% faster and more memory-efficient than prior approaches and included modernization of toolchains to C++17 and LLVM 16. Earlier work includes extending verification tools like 2ls and TARA, giving him deep familiarity with memory models (x86-TSO, Power) and embedded/IoT concurrency. He blends systems-level insight with practical engineering—benchmarking, CI/CD, and API subset implementations—to turn formal techniques into production-capable tooling.
Nidhugg is a bug-finding tool which targets bugs caused by concurrency and relaxed memory consistency in concurrent programs. It is particularly useful for programs written in C/pthreads. Currently Nidhugg supports the SC, TSO, PSO, POWER and ARM (partial) memory models.
