Sarthak Dayal is a research-focused robotics and RL engineer pursuing CS at UT Austin with five years of hands-on experience building perception and control systems for challenging environments. At UT’s MIDI lab he develops representation learning and hierarchical RL approaches and recently published a workshop paper introducing an Air Hockey sim-to-real testbench. His industry work spans radar and acoustics for firefighting robots, SLAM in smoke-filled environments, and UAV firmware and path-planning—demonstrating a knack for moving research into rugged, safety-critical products. As a TA he helped broaden AI literacy across campus, and his background uniquely combines low-level embedded control with cutting-edge RL research. He’s based in San Antonio and open to collaboration on robotics and generalist RL agents (sarthak@utexas.edu).
