Sean Gauthier is an aspiring materials and aerospace engineer pursuing an honours Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Waterloo, with a decade of hands-on experience in team projects and research. As Team Co-Lead and former Airframe Co-Lead for Waterloo Rocketry, he led composite manufacturing, managed the Borealis fin project, and developed testing processes for fiberglass and carbon fiber parts. He brings lab-scale research experience from the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology, where he designed a LabVIEW-based laser scattering system to monitor epitaxial growth in a cleanroom environment. A recent ion propulsion development intern at Rocket Lab, Sean bridges experimental research and applied aerospace development. Comfortable both on the shop floor and in the lab, he couples practical manufacturing skills with instrumentation and process design. Based in Waterloo, he combines leadership in student rocketry with cross-disciplinary technical fluency that signals readiness for materials- or propulsion-focused roles.
