Top SchoolSebastian Oelke is a Principal Engineer with over a decade of experience building and scaling backend systems, teams, and operational practices across startups and large enterprises. Based in Shanghai with a German engineering education, he has led major migrations (Ruby to Go, on-prem to AWS) and implemented banking standards and event-driven architectures that improved data integrity and observability. Known as a calm, structured tech lead and mentor, he specializes in helping early-career engineers, senior ICs, and new tech leads navigate career and team challenges. His pragmatic focus spans API design (GraphQL), core-banking CQRS/event sourcing, and production excellence—often pairing technical execution with coaching to unlock team performance. Outside of work he blogs about engineering and tinkers with side projects, bringing a hands-on “repairman” curiosity to architectural problems.
