Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolShaun Smale is an Enterprise Architect with over 25 years of hands-on experience in healthcare IT, blending clinical workflow insight with deep technical expertise in interoperability standards like FHIR, XDS, DICOM and HL7. Currently at Elekta, he has a track record of delivering large-scale archive, PACS and integration programs across NHS and international customers, and previously led digital healthcare interoperability consultancy through Penwarden Ltd. He combines pragmatic product thinking and project delivery—Prince2, Six Sigma and HIMSS EMRAM assessor experience—with cloud, NoSQL and data-lake architectures to translate complex clinical requirements into auditable, secure solutions. Shaun’s background ranges from field service engineering and MRI systems to enterprise architecture, giving him uncommon empathy for both operational teams and C-suite stakeholders. Although retired and pursuing hobbies, he remains an active full-stack web developer by practice and consultancy, frequently stepping in to solve backlog and transformation challenges. Based in Peterborough, he’s known for pragmatic, risk-aware designs that de-risk migrations and accelerate clinical value.
