Summary
👤
SeniorShi Gu is an Associate Professor with a decade of experience at the intersection of applied mathematics, computational neuroscience, and brain-inspired AI. Holding a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania and a strong undergraduate record from Tsinghua, he has led research on neuromorphic computing and brain–computer interfaces across top academic institutions in China and the U.S. His work translates statistical and machine-learning methods for modeling brain networks into hardware-aware, neuromorphic systems that bridge theory and implementation. Shi has progressed from research and teaching roles at Penn to full professorship and now an associate professorship at Zhejiang University, demonstrating a rare blend of deep math, experimental neuroscience, and AI engineering. Colleagues describe him as intensely curious and boundary-pushing, often pursuing unconventional cross-disciplinary experiments that probe the limits of computation and cognition. Based in Philadelphia but internationally active, he combines rigorous quantitative training with practical efforts to make brain-inspired intelligence computationally and physically realizable.
