Sol Matas is a Berlin-based type designer, font production specialist, educator, and founder with over a decade of experience designing and producing multi-script typefaces (Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Odia) for Google Fonts, brands, and institutions. She co-directs Practica Program, an online type design school that has expanded from Latin to Devanagari courses, and frequently leads workshops and guest lectures at international conferences and universities. Her work has earned recognition from European Design Awards, Tipos Latinos, and the International Typography Congress, and she has served on the Type Directors Club board while organizing Latin America–focused events. Beyond teaching and practice, Sol translates technical documentation for Glyphs, contributes writing to Typographica, and founded the Hungry Type Society—reflecting a rare blend of hands-on production, cross-cultural script expertise, and community-building in the global type design scene.
