Summary
Sovichet Tep is a Phnom Penh–based programmer, co-founder and Type Director with 12 years of experience blending software development and Khmer type design. He founded Romnea Type Foundry to create harmonious multi-script families and co-runs Anagata Design, delivering brand identity and bespoke Khmer type for clients like Grab, Carlsberg and Peng Huoth. A self-taught type designer who turned a 2010 hobby into a professional craft in 2018, he publishes open-source fonts and regularly teaches and writes about Khmer typography. His engineering background (Royal University of Phnom Penh, software roles at Open Institute) informs a methodical, systems-minded approach to type and tooling.
