Stefano Mangiola is a computational biologist and group leader who leverages Bayesian statistics, single-cell transcriptomics, and AI to map immune–cancer interactions and inform therapy resistance in breast and other cancers. Trained in biotechnology and bioinformatics (Univ. of Milano Bicocca) with an MPhil and PhD from the University of Melbourne/WEHI, he has built scalable single-cell analysis platforms and a Bayesian model for compositional single-cell data that underpinned cross-organ immune atlases. His work spans high-impact methods papers (PNAS, Genome Biology, Nature Methods) and translational projects supported by VCA, CZI and CSL, including a tidyomics language to streamline multi-omic data manipulation. Now leading an independent group at SAiGENCI and the University of Adelaide, he combines rigorous statistics with practical AI tooling to make patient-level immune profiling clinically actionable. An experimentalist-turned-methodologist, he brings rare domain fluency across wet-lab biology, statistical modeling and production-ready computational platforms.
