Top SchoolStephen Cummins is a seasoned enterprise and software architect with over a decade of experience delivering secure, large-scale government and academic systems from Cambridge. Currently Head of IT & Security Operations at XBOW and a long-term Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, he blends hands-on engineering (J2EE, MongoDB, Postgres, ElasticSearch, AngularJS) with strategic leadership across enterprise architecture, digital transformation and CTO roles. He has a track record of chairing technical governance boards, managing cross‑government stakeholders, and owning security risk for multiple delivery teams while coaching and recruiting high-performing engineers. A PhD in Software Engineering underpins his ability to translate complex research into practical, production-grade platforms such as Isaac Physics. Comfortable switching between coding and C-suite responsibilities, he continues to program in his spare time to keep technical skills sharp. Colleagues describe him as a pragmatic strategist who balances rapid delivery with robust security and architectural integrity.
