Senior🎓
Top SchoolSteven Hernandez is a Senior Research Scientist with 11 years of experience fusing applied machine learning, IoT, and software engineering to ship edge-aware sensing and large-scale ML systems. He’s contributed to flagship projects at DeepMind and Google—working on Gemini family models and Project Astra—while advancing WiFi sensing, federated learning, and lightweight speech models during his academic research. A NSF Graduate Fellow pursuing advanced CS degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University, he bridges rigorous publications (multiple IEEE/ACM papers) with hands-on embedded prototyping using ESP32/Arduino and production backend work. Equally comfortable in low-level device firmware and cloud-scale research systems, he brings an unusual combination of on-device optimization and large-model product experience. Based in Mountain View, he maintains a public portfolio and research footprint that surfaces both experimental prototypes and reproducible publications.
