Steyn Guelen is a power electronics-focused Master’s student in Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology, currently interning in Columbia University’s MPlab and based in New York. With around a decade of hands-on experience across electronics engineering, system analysis, and project management, he blends PCB design, custom magnetics and EMI/EMC-aware layouts with manufacturing and test-floor know-how. At Wefabricate he developed PoE solutions, flyback converters and MCU firmware, while earlier roles at Prodrive honed his skills in fault analysis and new product introductions for contract manufacturing. He is particularly interested in improving reliability and performance of low-voltage (<220Vac) power converters, taking a systems view from outlet to device. Outside coursework he has applied theory directly in industry roles and maintains a public technical presence (steynguelen.com) and a compact GitHub-facing project (huedrops.io) that hint at hands-on prototyping and creative side projects. Practical, curious and production-minded, he thrives at the intersection of design, testing and manufacturability.
