Takashi Ogura is a robotics founder and CEO with 14 years of hands-on experience building humanoid and assistive robots across Toyota, SCHAFT, and Google. He holds a PhD from The University of Tokyo and led software development for Toyota’s Human Support Robot before moving into research and senior roboticist roles at Google. Since 2019 he has spun that expertise into startups—founding Smile Robotics and now Synchrobo—combining deep-mechatronics know-how with product and business leadership. His background spans academic research (JSPS-funded work on life-size humanoids) to shipping commercial robotics systems, giving him rare end-to-end insight from control and perception algorithms to deployable robot products. Based in Chiyoda, Japan, he brings a pragmatic entrepreneurial streak informed by high-impact research and large-scale engineering at top global labs.
