Thomas Hauser is a seasoned research computing leader with over 14 years of experience building and managing cyberinfrastructure for major research institutions. He has led research computing at the University of Colorado Boulder, directed technology development at NCAR’s CISL, and chaired the Rocky Mountain Advanced Computing Consortium to coordinate regional HPC and data projects. Combining a Dr.-Ing in Mechanical Engineering from TUM with hands-on academic appointments, he bridges deep technical knowledge with strategic program leadership across universities and national labs. Known for pragmatic stewardship of shared computing resources, he also co-founded and ran centers that translate research needs into scalable systems and services. Based in Boulder, he retains an engineer’s curiosity—summed up on GitHub as “Computers are pretty useful”—and continues to teach and advise as an adjunct professor and library faculty member.
