Tim Mcneil is a Professor of Design and Director/Chief Curator at the UC Davis Design Museum with over a decade of academic leadership and two decades of professional museum and exhibition practice. He created and teaches the exhibition design curriculum, mentors graduate thesis research, and blends historical scholarship with contemporary methods to shape exhibition and experience design pedagogy. His work has been recognized by SEGD, AAM, and UC/college design organizations, is held in the Getty Research Institute, and informs both critical discourse and practical museum projects. A published author and frequent international speaker, he contributes to journals and edited volumes and wrote The Exhibition and Experience Design Handbook (2023). Uncommonly for a curator-academic, he maintains an active design practice through Muniz/McNeil, bridging hands-on exhibition production with research and teaching.
