Tobie Nortje is an electrical engineer with over 15 years’ experience in power delivery, demand-side management and utility consulting across South Africa. He progressed from sub-transmission network planning at Eskom to leading Measurement & Verification and industrial DSM programmes, delivering more than 70 business cases and managing multi‑million rand projects. As Principal Consultant he now directs Business Analytics and Decision Support at EON (and has run his own consultancy), focusing on asset optimisation, capital budget scrubbing and improving substation availability. Tobie combines technical fluency in load flow and protection studies with commercial skills in strategy development, large capital portfolio management and M&V protocol standardisation. He’s also pursued entrepreneurial and community initiatives—co-founding a hardware-focused makerspace—and has translated a long-standing interest in Python into professional development work. Based in Gauteng, he blends field-level engineering insight with programme-level delivery experience that helps utilities turn technical decisions into measurable system and financial outcomes.
