Top SchoolUjjwal Kanth is a Principal Engineer and engineering leader with 15+ years building high-performance, cloud-native systems and data pipelines, now driving architecture at Harness after a long tenure as Architect & Sr. Director of Engineering at Unbxd. He specializes in distributed systems, search and recommendation engines, and event-driven architectures, with hands-on experience optimizing query performance, cutting costs, and scaling pipelines to handle hundreds of millions of daily events. Ujjwal has repeatedly modernized platforms—migrating monoliths to microservices, re-architecting search indexes, and building event-driven inter-region networks using NATS and custom index-affinity routing. He’s fluent in Go and Java and has operationalized Kubernetes, Solr, Flink, Druid and CockroachDB to deliver resilient, cost-efficient SaaS and ML training pipelines. A pragmatic builder, he pairs deep systems thinking with pragmatic automation (Argo Workflows, dynamic Flink scaling) to reduce operational cost by up to 60% in some projects. Based in Bengaluru, he quietly maintains production-grade OSS foundations (e.g., unbxd/go-base) that standardize internal development and accelerate delivery.
