Top SchoolUmar Alkafaween is a Senior Software Engineer with 8 years of hands-on experience building high-performance back-end systems and DevOps solutions, currently at Al Jazeera Media Network. He has a strong track record in Ruby on Rails APIs, scaling web platforms (notably multi-million-user APIs and dramatic performance gains at Edraak), and integrating payment and delivery services for e-commerce. Umar pairs practical optimization skills—achieving massive load and latency improvements—with teaching experience, having lectured computer science and supervised ACM student activities. His background includes an MS in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis and diverse roles from startups to media institutes, giving him both academic depth and production grit.
